We are currently looking for a Broadcast Journalist to join our VOCM News team! This position reports to the Program Director VOCM

The award-winning VOCM team, the leader in local news, is looking for an energetic journalist with a passion for delivering exceptional local coverage. Your day-to-day

  • Researching, writing, reporting, and on-air reading
  • Developing and following up on story ideas, gathering news information, and helping maintain the news website
  • Ability to monitor social media for provincial news, traffic, and weather information
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and engaging on-air tone
  • Represent VOCM in the community
  • Others duties as assigned

Your qualifications

  • Must be willing to work any and all shifts
  • Broad digital and broadcast journalism skills
  • Fast-paced environment, must be able to adjust on the fly, work well under pressure while multi-tasking
  • Solid news judgment with a team-oriented approach
  • Excellent interviewing, reporting, and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Valid driver’s license
